Trae Young's long-awaited debut for the Washington Wizards has offically been announced for Thursday night in the team's matchup against the Utah Jazz.

After nearly two months as part of the Wizards, the former No. 5 overall pick has finally been cleared physcially to return from an MCL injury that forced to him miss nearly the entire season after only suiting up for 10 games with the Atlanta Hawks.

However, Thursday isn't just the first time the Wizards' fanbase will get the opportunity to see their new star point guard hit the floor, but it's also the first opportunity for Young to validate his new squad's bold swing ahead of the NBA trade deadline.

Trae Young has the chance to validate Wizards blockbuster bet

Washington's decision to swing for Young brought up mixed opinions all over the league.

Some felt it was the right move, giving the Wizards a playmaking guard that could elevate the game for rising big man Alex Sarr, while others believed that Young's arrival could be the exact move to stump the development of players like Kyshawn George and Bub Carrington.

At the same time, when considering the extremely discounted price it cost the Wizards to acquire Young (CJ McCollum's expiring contract and Corey Kispert), it makes perfect sense as to why general manager Will Dawkins opted to pull the trigger on this no-brainer move.

Especially considering the news that both sides are already eyeing a contract extension this offseason.

For Young though, his debut on Thursday won't just be for him to prove the Hawks' wrong, but to also prove his new squad right.

Trae Young will be on a minutes restriction

You're probably wondering how much action will Young actually see when he hits the floor on Thursday.

According to head coach Brian Keefe, the star guard will likely see between 17-20 minutes in his first game with Washington.

Obviously, 17-20 minutes isn't the most time to prove a team's move of this caliber right in one night.

Still, the chance to build early chemistry with the young players on the roster and get some early run in Brian Keefe's system.

Young doesn't have to come out scorching on the offensive end, but simply using his limited minutes to prove he can be that facilitating high IQ guard the team traded for him to be will alone be enough to validate why the Wizards made the decision to acquire him when they had the opportunity.

The other elephant in the room suggests that with Young coming back, Anthony Davis' return may be right around the corner.
