The Washington Wizards have been one of the most active teams in the league not only over the last couple weeks, but the last couple years.

Washington has continously added to their roster as the front office regime of general manager Will Dawkins and President of Monumental Basketball Michael Winger making it a point of emphasis to bring in new talent that can help the team take the next step forward.

Between the acquisitions of four-time All-Star Trae Young and future Hall of Famer Anthony Davis, it's become clear that the Wizards have their eyes on competing in the Eastern Conference sooner rather than later.

However, within those moves, the team has created several open roster spots that they've worked tirelessly to fill over the last several weeks.

Between waiving newly acquired Dante Exum, signing two-way standouts Tristan Vukcevic and Jamir Watkins and the expiring of several 10-day contracts, Washington's roster is far from being complete.

As a result, the moves have continued to come in.

Wizards sign Julian Reese to two-way contract

Following the signings of Vukevic and Watkins, Washington moved quickly to fill one of their vacant two-way spots with former Maryland product Julian Reese.

Reese, who went undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft, spent the start of his NBA career with the Raptors 905, the G-League affliliate for the Toronto Raptors.

Averaging 8.7 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists on 62.1% shooting from field goal range in 24 games, the former Terrapin impressed the Wizards' front office enough for the team to move quickly at the opportunity to add him to the Capital City Go-Go roster on a two-way deal.

At 6-foot-9, the 22-year-old has plenty of potential that the Wizards feel with the right development they'll be able to tap into.

Julian Reese is yet another DMV native to join Wizards

In the offseason, the Wizards took a swing on potential with the acquisition of former first-round pick and Maryland native Cam Whitmore.

Now, the signing of Reese only adds to the teams list of homegrown talent to join the team's young roster with the chance to develop with the chance to become a key piece for the team's future plans.

Not to mention, second-year man Bub Carrington has ties to the DMV himself.

Washington clearly has an eye for local talent, and that alone goes along away with a fanbase who loves supporting homegrown players.
