The Washington Wizards made it clear that keeping Anthony Davis around for the future was their goal entering the offseason.Â
Unfortunately, based on multiple reports around the league, the Golden State Warriors are gearing up for an attempt to derail those plans.Â
For weeks, there have been rumbles across the league surrounding the Warriors' hope to make a legitimate run at impending free agent LeBron James this offseason.Â
Most recently, though, the latest update suggests that James isn’t the Warriors only target.Â
Golden State undoubtedly has an all-in swing on the horizon to build a championship contender around Stephen Curry, and in addition to James, the Warriors are planning to aggressively pursue Anthony Davis on the trade block.Â
For the Wizards, they could be the team to put an end to those plans, but depending on how aggressive Golden State actually plans to get, Washington may have to at least consider the possibility.Â
Warriors gearing up for massive offseason featuring Anthony DavisÂ
Following the news of Draymond Green’s decision to decline his $27 million player option, ESPN's Shams Charania quickly reported that the decision was a precursor move to help Golden State take one step closer to their dream offseason.Â

The Warriors are hoping that they can persuade James to accept the full mid-level exception, with the hopes that the chance to finally team up with Curry, Green, and a potential reunion with Davis is enough of a selling point.Â
However, the Wizards have no incentive to help facilitate this dream offseason, and looking at what the Warriors have to offer, it’s hard to imagine why they would.Â
Warriors’ expected offer will be built around Jimmy Butler IIIÂ
The Warriors don’t have that much to play with this offseason in a potential move.Â
Outside of Curry, the team’s largest contract to work with is Jimmy Butler’s $56.8 million expiring contract.Â
Obviously, that alone is enough to get a deal done, but with Jimmy Buckets recovering from an ACL injury at age 36, taking on that contract simply wouldn’t be a wise move for the Wizards.Â
Washington has legitimate plans to make a run at a playoff spot next season, and after extending Trae Young and selecting AJ Dybantsa at No. 1 overall, the stars have finally seemed to align, especially with general manager Will Dawkins announcing that Davis wants to remain in D.C.
Golden State has a dream to form a Big 4, and while Washington will likely at least hear what the Warriors have to offer, unless they blow them away with an offer, the Wizards simply have no reason to consider this move.Â
All that to say, unless Yaxel Lendeborg is on the table in any deal, the Wizards have every right to laugh in the Warriors' face.
The Warriors may be able to lure LeBron James to join Dubnation, but unless the Wizards are blown away by an offer, Curry will have to be fine with a Big 3, because Washington has plans of their own that make a move, at least with Golden State, wouldn't make sense.
