The entire league is waiting to see how the LeBron James situation unfolds this offseason with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Whether the 41-year-old veteran elects to return to LA for another season or chase a championship elsewhere is up in the air.

And while only a handful of teams have a real chance at landing the future Hall of Famer, the star forward's decision will impact several teams this offseason.

Of those teams that could be impacted, arguably the one team that has the biggest incentive to keep tabs on how the sweepstakes for James unfold is the Washington Wizards.

And I know what you're thinking: Why does it matter to the Wizards where LeBron goes if it's not Washington?

The answer? Wherever James lands becomes a team that the Wizards could target to offload Anthony Davis if push comes to shove.

Wherever LeBron James lands could be a landing spot for Anthony Davis

James has been involved with several big names to make a run for an NBA Championship, but of the running mates he's had that helped him secure a ring, only three active stars remain: Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis, and Kevin Love.

Irving is another trade candidate heading into the offseason, but given how the two stars time together ended, it's safe to assume a reunion is unlikely.

Love is inching closer to retirement, and at this point in his career, he's more just a veteran voice at the end of a bench.

As for Davis, though, he's the most recent superstar to align with LeBron for a championship run, and considering the reports from the backchannels around the league, both players were very disappointed when their time together in LA was abruptly cut short.

All that to say, if the chance to team back up presents itself, expect both players to be highly interested in a reunion.

At the same time, though, the Wizards would likely take the best offer for AD rather than sending him where he wants to go if he his dealt.

Wizards will prioritize the best return for AD

At this point in his career, Davis has made it clear he wants to play for a contender, and no matter if the Wizards wanted to respect those wishes or not, it's been made clear that the big man doesn't have the trade value he once did, given his injury history.

Washington is open to a long-term relationship, but if Davis wants out, the Wizards will be forced to listen to calls.

Anytime that has James could drum up the best offer, but if it didn't, Washington would have no reason to send AD to his preferred destination.

If Davis is moved, the Wizards will move him for the package that offers them the most upside.
