The Washington Wizards didn't stand pat at the NBA trade deadline,
In fact, the front office of general manager Will Dawkins and President of Monumental Basketball Michael Winger did the exact opposite.
Forming a superstar duo of Trae Young and Anthony Davis, the Wizards made plenty of bold moves that put plenty of eyes on their rebuild and raised several questions about what the team's future holds.
However, the two stars have yet to make their Wizards' debut and until they do, the questions raised won't be answered anytime soon.
Nonetheless, one debut in specifc just raised a major question about the move the team didn't make rather than the one they did.
Why didn't the Wizards trade for Jonathan Kuminga?
Jonathan Kuminga was one of the most intriguing free agents this past offseason.
As a former lottery pick and a G-League Ignite star, many teams felt that Kuminga could be a superstar at the next level.
Unfortunately, his fit with the Golden State Warriors and Steve Kerr didn't give him the opportunity to prove that, which is what led to conversations about a trade being the most likely outcome for the forward's future.
At the same time, the Warriors' unwillingness to negotiate with interested teams for a potential sign-and-trade deal this offseason led the versatile playmaker to return to Golden State prior to the start of the season.
Still, it became clear that a trade would be in both sides best interest as Kuminga's role continued to diminish and the relationship began to sour.
Eventually, Golden State finally pulled a trigger on a Kuminga trade and it came at the expense of the team missing out on Giannis Antetokounmpo and pivoting to Kristaps Porzingis.
Sending Kuminga to Atlanta came as a surprise to many, including Kuminga.
The forward's role with the Hawks seemed unclear, but on Tuesday, Washington got a front row seat of just how good the wing can be in a system that allows him to play to his strengths.
In his Hawks debut, not only did Kuminga lead Atlanta to a dominant win over the Wizards, but he put together one of his most complete games of his career of the bench.
Finishing with 27 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists, while knocking down 9 of his 12 attempts from field goal range and three of his four shots from beyond the arc, Kuminga looked like an absolute star.
With a chip on his shoulder, the sky truly is the limit.
Looking back at the Wizards interest in Kuminga, his debut with the Hawks makes many wonder why Washington didn't pull the trigger when they had the chance.
Then again, those thoughts could subside as soon as Young and Davis hit the court.
Until then, those thoughts will persist.
