The race to land LeBron James in free agency continues for a handful of teams, and up to this point, there's no clear frontrunner to land the 41-year-old star.
James has been linked to several teams, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers, Golden State Warriors, and Minnesota Timberwolves.
All teams have made their pitches to James, but up to this point, the belief is that the free agent is holding off on his decision with the hope that an interested team makes an aggressive trade to acquire former teammate Anthony Davis.
Both James and AD have made it clear since the Los Angeles Lakers split them up that they'd like to reunite, and the opportunity has presented itself this offseason.
However, the Washington Wizards won't budge in terms of trading their trade deadline acquisition, and with all the leverage on their side, why would they?
All that to say, if James wants to reunite with Davis so badly, the perfect opportunity presents itself in Washington that doesn't require the unnecessary need to jump through hoops to make it happen.

James free agency decision will reportedly be motivated by happiness, instead of financially.
The veteran is on the backend of his career, and whether he has one season left in him or two more years, he's made it clear that he wants to land with an organization that has the same goals in mind.
As a four-time NBA champion, it's clear that James wants to contend and make another championship run, and while Washington has been stuck at the bottom of the standings for years now, they finally have a squad that can dig themselves out of that hole.
Signing in Washington would be an extremely unexpected move for James, but it could be the exact decision that not only allows him to reunite with AD, but stamp his career as the Greatest of All Time, especially if he's able to help lead the Wizards on a deep run.
While Davis would be the best selling point for the Wizards, Washington also holds other cards they could play with Trae Young on the roster, and reigning No. 1 overall pick AJ Dybantsa headlining one of the most intriguing young cores in the league.
AD already confirmed he's had a conversation with James about coming to Washington, and while he said it in a joking manner, the reality is that it could be a realistic path to the best chance to compete next season.

Every team on James' list has flaws.
The Warriors' age and depth are concerns; Minnesota only has one proven superstar to vouch for in Anthony Edwards; the Miami Heat's shooting alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo is questionable; Philadelphia's championship window rides on the health of Joel Embiid, and the Cavaliers' only real pitch is the chance to come home.
Washington has a window to make a pitch for James, and while the door is only slightly cracked open, it's enough for the Wizards to try their hand at taking advantage of the situation.
Unless the Wizards receive an offer for AD they can't refuse, they won't trade the big man. So if James wants to reunite, he should seriously consider a move to the nation's capital.
