The Washington Wizards haven't looked good all season. In fact, statistically, the Wizards have been the worst team in the league with a 2-17 record as they ride a 15 game losing streak entering their Thursday night matchup against the Dallas Mavericks.
However, the team could be in line to look the best they have all season on the court, and I'm not talking about their play. Although, hopefully they can put forth solid play to give Wizards fans something to cheer for as this long NBA regular season continues to unwind.
That said, here's a look at the reason why the Wizards may be poised to turn the way they look on the court around vs. Dallas.
Wizards set to debut new City Edition jerseys
Towards the beginning of the season, the Wizards announced that they had released a new City Edition jersey as did the rest of the teams in the league. And while the idea for each team with these jerseys is to find a way to represent and show out for the city that each team represents on their chest, Washington seemingly took the extra step throughout their designing process.
The Wizards new threads are set to showcase multiple unique patterns, new "DMV" logo and waterway trip work to represent the surrounding areas of Washington. With the motive to strongly represent the District of Columbia, perhaps the new threads could be what it takes for the Wizards to end their double digit losing streak.
However, the Wizards head into this game with a laundry list of an injury report. With injuries to multiple key players for Washington, they'll have their hands full finding a way to upset a Mavericks team who looks like a true contender yet again with a 14-8 record entering tonight's matchup.
Nonetheless, the one good thing about basketball is that any team can win on any given night, even the Wizards. The talent on the roster is good enough to compete and with an explosive scorer like Jordan Poole leading the way anything is possible.
At the end of the day, the team will have the chance to honor the city in a unique way with their new jerseys and new floor design against a championship contender. Although the odds seem stacked against them, perhaps all they need is the city on their chest and behind their back to push them to a win.
