Washington Wizards Should Reunite John Wall With DeMarcus Cousins

Washington Wizards Should Acquire Boogie
I know, I know. I’ve beaten this topic to death. On Bullets Forever, you will get enough #KD2DC content to last a lifetime. I’m on a mission to match their (more specifically, I’m trying to match Jake Whitacre) fever for Kevin Durant by matching it with my love for DeMarcus Cousins.
I have an irrational love for Boogie. He throws temper tantrums, doesn’t like his coaches and definitely enjoys not playing defense on a consistent basis. He’s flawed – just like all of us. But, that doesn’t mean he’s not a superstar.
Cousins is arguably the best big man in the NBA. He’s added an outside shot to his game, but his dominance inside has been incredible.
There aren’t a lot of bigs in the league that can impose their will inside like Cousins. He’s an instant bucket-getter around the basket. Now that he’s expanded his range, Boogie has become one of the most threatening players on the offensive end of the floor.
The Sacramento Kings should be blamed for much of Boogie’s faults, including his frustration.
The guy has never even come close to sniffing the NBA Playoffs. In fact, prior to this season, the Kings never won 30 games since Cousins was drafted in 2010. This year they won 33 games. The Kings fired Mike Malone, even though everyone on the roster – including Boogie – loved playing for him.
Then they hired stubborn old guy George Karl. He was fired almost immediately, too. Now they’re looking for a new head coach.
The team’s turnover rate is incredible. Plus, they hired Vlade Divac to run their basketball team. Divac played center for the Kings a century ago and has absolutely zero front office experience. Okay – I’ll stop. The Kings are obviously a mess.
My point is, Boogie deserves a lot better than what he’s gotten. You know who else is in that boat? John Wall.
Like Boogie, Wall has been forced to carry a team that’s completely dependent on his talent. Without Wall, the Wizards would struggle to win 25 games. Virtually everyone on the roster needs him to succeed. That’s a problem. That much of a burden should never be placed on a single player.
The two players obviously shared the court together in Kentucky and their friendship continues. While the Washington Wizards did not make the NBA Playoffs this season, Wall’s future in the nation’s capital is pretty secure.
He believes in the team going forward and he’s thrilled with the Scott Brooks hire.

Most importantly, he’s experienced some success in Washington during the playoffs.
Boogie has yet to even come close to qualifying for the playoffs, despite busting his butt for the team and putting up insanely great numbers.
As humans, we all tend to rely on each other for comfort.
When we’re tired or have a lot on our plate, we make sure our significant others know about it.
We need each other to succeed, grow and to simply get by. Boogie and Wall don’t have that. They have themselves. That’s why the Wizards should try to snag Boogie for Sacramento.
According to a recent report, the Kings are supposedly open to trading their star center.
And yes, if you read the report, the Kings are reportedly sick of Boogie’s “mood swings.”
I’m fairly certain such mood swings wouldn’t exist if the team operated like most professional basketball organizations. The “mood swings” are caused by bad play, crappy management and terrible coaching.
Boogie has been in the rumor mill ever since he first landed in Sacramento. As long as the Kings continue to suck, Boogie will continue to be the focus of much trade discussion and rumor. But, this one has been a bit different. Boogie has been in Sacramento for six years and nothing has changed. Really, it’s probably gotten worse.
If the Kings are ever going to trade Boogie, it’s going to be during the summer or after the free agency period. Heck, it might even be sooner. I think both are sick of each other.
The King are just bad and think they might get better if they get rid of their best player, and Boogie has been fed up with their awfulness for quite some time.
After the rumor caught some heat online, Wall retweeted it.
I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but the Washington Wizards need a star next to Wall. He’s been in the NBA for six years, made the All-Star team three times, willed his team to the playoffs two years in a row, and has never gotten legitimate help. He has never played with another All-Star.
It’s time for the Wizards to get a star, even if they miss out on all the top free agents.
If Boogie wants to reunite with Wall in Washington, I truly believe it’s capable of happening. The Kings would likely honor his first choice, despite how awful they have been. Wall and Boogie are tight and they’ve been that way all throughout their respective careers.
Washington needs to create some excitement. The Scott Brooks thing was cool and it brought some of the excitement back after the team missed the playoffs, but that sort of excitement is temporary. At the end of the day, Brooks is just a coach and he will be judged by the team’s record.
What matters is who’s on the court. Having two stars like Wall and Boogie – two stars who know each other and worked as a duo in Kentucky – would instantly revitalize the capital’s love for the team.

Waiting around for Durant to come is an option and targeting other free agents is too. But, if Wall and Boogie want to play together in D.C., then the Washington Wizards should make it happen.
