Hey, Reeves:

The Washington Wizards have made a lot of history this season, even though some of it is relatively sad.

It’s been a long time since the Wizards have won the Southeast Division title – 38 years, in fact. They did that this season. It’s been a long time since an NBA team went 15 games over .500 after starting the season 2-8 – it’s never happened, in fact. The Wizards did that this season.

Washington hasn’t won 50 games in almost four decades. Getting that accomplishment with John Wall would mean a lot, especially considering how bad the Wizards were when he first arrived to D.C. It’s tangible progress and that matters.

But getting the Boston Celtics in the second round would put the Wizards on a better path to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Washington should hope that Boston hangs onto the first seed, because despite their record, the Celtics are not a more dangerous team than the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Things change in the NBA Playoffs, Reeves. Would you rather face Isaiah Thomas or LeBron James? The answer is Thomas every single time.

Cleveland just won the championship, too. Their game will elevate when it matters most.

We still don’t know if the Celtics are going to flop like the 2015 Atlanta Hawks team did.

Remember, the Hawks were the first seed too, but hardly beat the Washington Wizards in the semifinals.

If I had to pick one, I’d go the Wizards would rather play the Celtics in the second round than win 50 games.

Every team in the NBA Playoffs should have one goal: to win the championship. Whether it’s the eighth seed or the first seed, everyone should be aiming to win it all. If not, then there’s no point of being there.

Washington would have a better chance at beating Boston in round two than Cleveland, so take that over 50 wins.
